Student's journal

MCC strives to make the college an extraordinary place, not only from a professional perspective: the management is dedicated to creating a familiar atmosphere at the college. The community is enriched with the help of professional team builders by organising numerous informal events and also by simply giving students the opportunity and the means to organise themselves.

The fellows, also residents of the Collegium, are an integral part of college life. Since in the last couple of years resident fellows have come from the ranks of the alumni, they stand in good stead to add quickly in their role. Beside tutoring and organisational tasks they provide counsel on both school and personal issues. Animating the community and maintaining a healthy co-habitation is also part of their job. They all receive postgraduate research scholarships, organise and give lectures at conferences, publish and edit different volumes of studies – all part of the academic research done at the college.

With the enthusiastic support of the resident fellows, we go to theatre, concerts and exhibitions together. We go on excursions or simply jog on the Gellért Hill; we organise film-clubs, have a very enthusiastic choir and our basketball team worked its way up to the highest class of the University League. We party together spontaneously, celebrate holidays and the opening and closing of the academic year.

Every second week students have a free and easy breakfast and conversation with a member of the advisory board of the college. During summertime MCC organises camps for secondary school and junior students, where they can get to know each other, meet seniors, alumni and prominent people from the academic and public life.

The semi-official student journal of the college, the Highlander (in Hungarian, Hegylakó, the name alluding to the location of the college, the Gellért Hill) is compiled and edited by the media seniors and gives insight into college life.

The goal of the Collegium is to enhance the forming of a community whose members can count on each other during their careers and their whole lives both from a professional and a personal perspective. As far as the alumni association is concerned, the management did a good job so far.
